Dat is soms heel moeilijk en frustrerend. Ik sta niet op dieet, ik koop geen kleding die te klein is als \u2018inspiratie\u2019, ik honger mezelf niet uit omdat ik \u2018s avonds een feestje heb, ik sport niet omdat ik een zak chips gegeten heb, ik praat niet over calorie\u00ebn, ik kies in een restaurant niet voor een salade als ik zin heb in pasta, ik drink \u2018s ochtends geen glas citroenwater om mijn metabolisme te \u2018stimuleren\u2019, ik kies mijn kapsel niet in functie van hoe dun het mijn gezicht doet lijken, ik koop geen kleding om mijn \u2018minpuntjes\u2019 te verdoezelen \u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Allemaal dingen die ik vroeger wel deed overigens.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nu ik deze lijst zo zie staan, vind ik het echt ongelofelijk hoeveel regeltjes onze dieetcultuur ons oplegt. Want dit is natuurlijk maar een kleine selectie van alles wat je \u2018moet\u2019 doen als je dik bent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Ik ben blij dat ik niet meer het gevoel heb dat afvallen de enige keuze is die ik heb als dik persoon.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Sinds ik niet meer meedoe met die brainwashing, is er heel wat tijd en energie vrijgekomen die ik kan besteden aan leukere dingen.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_text_3 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_block_module\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p><strong>Vermoeiend verzet<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_text_4 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_block_module\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En toch ben ik nog steeds niet vrij van onze dieetcultuur. Je kan daar in onze maatschappij gewoon niet aan ontsnappen. Je wordt er ongewild mee geconfronteerd, ook al doe je je best om er niet in mee te gaan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reclame op tv voor een afvalprogramma. Fat jokes in films. Een kennis die niet mee gaat lunchen omdat ze op dieet staat. Posts op Instagram met voor-en-na-foto\u2019s. Een vage kennis die je komt uitleggen hoe het hen gelukt is om af te vallen. <strong>Het is elke week wel iets.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En dat is waarom het z\u00f3 moeilijk is om te stoppen met di\u00ebten. Je wordt overspoeld met boodschappen die je ervan willen overtuigen dat dik zijn zowat het slechtste is wat je kan zijn. Je wordt daar elke dag mee geconfronteerd. Als je je daartegen wilt verzetten, moet je daar continu moeite voor doen. En dat is vermoeiend.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Het is niet gemakkelijk om dik te zijn in een maatschappij die een hekel heeft aan dikke mensen.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Ik ben ondertussen al j\u00e1ren bezig met zelfliefde en dikactivisme, en ik kan echt zeggen dat ik Dik Gelukkig ben. En toch heb ook ik periodes dat het me allemaal te veel wordt.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dan zie ik mijn dikke buik en komen er niet-zo-lieve gedachten naar boven. Of dan heb ik pijnlijke plekken van het zweten en vind ik het ineens helemaal niet zo leuk om dik te zijn.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maar weet je, dat is ok. Het hoort erbij. Je kan niet elke dag in een vetfobische maatschappij leven en daar g\u00e9\u00e9n gevolgen van ondervinden. En mij helpt het dan heel hard om dat altijd in mijn gedachten te houden.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_text_5 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_block_module\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p><strong>Eerste stap<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_text_6 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_block_module\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Als ik merk dat ik negatief begin te denken over mijn lichaam of wat ik eet, dan weet ik ondertussen dat ik te veel geconfronteerd geweest ben met onze dieetcultuur. En van zodra ik dat alleen al besef, wordt het rustiger in mijn hoofd.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dan wrijf ik eens over mijn buik en denk ik: we komen er samen wel weer doorheen. Dan verzorg ik mijn pijnlijke zweetplekken zachtjes, want ik weet dat het dan de volgende dag beter voelt.
